Dude I know needed money (hey don't we all).

Sold a Remington Model 7 in .243, 20" light weight barrel, HS precision stock, Leupold VX2 3-9X with 40mm front. Looks like Burris nickel rings and bases.

He had the trigger adjusted unsafe. Light, he simply backed off the weight screw, and if you pulled the trigger while on safe it wouldn't trip, but flipping the safety off would let it "click". Remington for decades has used a thicker short compression range spring that seems to give an "all or nothing" on adjustment/weight.

I changed the one on my 600 and got it safe to 36 oz. Not a varmint gun trigger, but usable. There the parts rattle in the housing so bad that stoning them super smooth would serve no purpose.

This Model 7 is as light, maybe lighter, with no stoning or spring change. It might tune up to be a dandy. However, with the light bbl i'm not seeing it as a varminter either. Too bad it didn't have a 20" heavier profile bbl, like some of the regular stainless models with cheapy plastic stock.

I can't get a 3-9X EFR scope for it in silver, and think the thin 20" barrel and a full sized scope to look silly.

Shot the gun, the lighter weight has more gun movement at the shot, compared to my 600, but the recoil pad makes it of no concern. The little 600's ergonomics suck, and without a pad it might be a bit much for some kids, smaller statured folks. For a .243, the little 600 does click a little.

The Model 7 doesn't.

I'm not ecstatic with either gun, my 600 runs .75" and that's OK. I haven't shot this Model 7 at 100 yards yet, prev owner says it's sub MOA.

I really need a bit more weight...........think a reg ADL is more my speed, but they always had 22" barrels. I had a sub .50" rig, but sold it to pay for a divorce attorney years ago.........ex came back some time ago, likes stainless, and said buy this as a replacement.

Of course I had to use my money (wuzzup with that?).

I'll probably flip the Model 7, maybe sell the 600 too, if I can find something a little more to my liking. Checked Gunbroker, Gunsamerica and Auction Arms, no Model 7's listed like mine.

I should make a few bucks on this deal, and in doing so sell a good rifle to somebody else at a savings.

If it doesn't sell, screw it..............two .243's is kinda cool :)

Sold the Model 7! Nice rifle, his kid is gonna love it :-)
Not much interest on the 600, so will try selling my Winchester (non USRA) 9422M.

I like Gunbroker because people don't have to be a member to look at stuff in large picture (unlike some auction sites). They gotta be members (free) to bid, if they want it they'll do it, no big deal. But window shopping doesn't require signing up............and I just happen to like that idea.

The site does a good job of informing sellers of the rules, costs, and has a walk through that does it pretty much for you.

Alas, I am not a vulture or super wheeler-dealer..........so I "miss out" on a lot of deals I could post there. I know guys who are honest in selling, but very shrewd in buying.........so much so they are manic about pursuit of possible deals, to the point of being A holes.

IMHO there's no justification in being a jerk over a stinkin' dollar.

Good stuff costs, and if you can get it reasonable, pass it along to somebody who wants it and make a few bucks, is willing to hit your price..........so be it :-)

I did shoot the Model 7, put 3 inside an inch, off bipods and going prone (@ 100 yards).

The ammo was 75gr Speers from 19 years ago (my dad's left over handloads). They were just FL sized, so not for this gun really, but they did well considering.

FWIW I posted both on Gunbroker.com
Nice deer rigs that also double good for varmints.
No HP rifle hunting for deer here, so am going for a little larger and heavier platform for a dedicated coyote/groundhog rifle.
My kids don't hunt, rarely shoot, so my initial purchase of the 600 for my oldest kid was kind of for nothing (cousin has a cabin in a rifle zone in another state, but it's more of a bird hunting place, not deer).
I can cancel auctions, if no bids are put up, so if somebody wants one they can contact me here.
